oninit fail to start up
A user on Windows XP with IDS 9.40.TC2 couldn't start the engine after restoring the machine from an Acronis image following a virus; the online log ended with "listener-thread: err = 0" and "sql_listener: ASF_LISTEN failed", and the server stopped. Thanks for your Response. Actually because my computer suffer virus yesterday, I recovered my system from backup using Acronis. After that I tried to run informix server, the database was connected successfully from SQLEditor. but today I want to do it again, it failed.
With all these changes to the parameteres recorded in the log I would
say your environment is incorrect, you are pointing at the default
onconfig file and not the one that should be starting this engine.
Check the bat file for starting the engine.

today I use server instance manager to delete the old server instance , and create a new server instance. but when the new server instance failed to initialize. Hi,
Listen failed, so either there is another app running on the same
service or the entry in sqlhosts is not resolvable.
In case you have more than one instance running, you have to set a
unique servernum id for each instance and a unique service in sqlhosts
(normally matched by the DBSERVERALIAS). I never set up an instance with
instance manager, so I cannot say what it does ...
