> That's probably your problem Dude. You have to create a user informix and make it the only member of a group informix BEFORE you install your Informix software. Otherwise root will not be able to grant any permissions to informix, user or group.
Surely the install aborts if Informix user and group don't exist?
And why should informix be the only member of group informix for the
install to work
