Extents Overlap Problem
Posted in 1999
I have a problem I hope someone in the group could answer. Here goes....
I added a chunk to an existing dbspace yesterday morning. It looked like
this.
dbspace ind_idx1
pathname /d/ind_idx1.1 linked to /dev/rdsk/c4t1d0s3
My Unix Administrator gave me this raw device but did not check to see if
the space was being used. (I know I should have checked it myself but was in
a hurry). The space was being used by
dbspace sec_idx1
pathname /d/sec_idx1 linked to /dev/rdsk/c4t1d0s3
When I tried to do a level 0 archive a received the following error:
04:33:52 Assert Failed: Page Check Error in cfe_add_chunk: bad chunk freelist
page
04:33:52 Who: Session(5044, informix@aisg1, 6332, 453375304)
Thread(19219504, ontape, 1b042198, 4)
04:33:52 Results: Possible inconsistencies in a Chunk Freelist page
04:33:52 Action: Run 'oncheck -ce' and/or restore affected DBSpace
04:33:52 See Also: /informix_tmp/af.44300eff, shmem.44300eff.0
After figuring out what the problem was I dropped the additional chunk that
I added yesterday morning (ind_idx1.1)(It was empty). When I do an oncheck
-ce I receive the following message
ERROR: Extents overlap
ERROR: Extents overlap
There is only 1 index in the dbspace sec_idx1. I plan on dropping and
rebuilding this index. My question is this....
1) If I am correct in my assessment that this is the problem, then when
I drop and rebuild the index will I be able to do an archive level 0
backup without an assert failed and will I get no more error messages in
oncheck?
Thanks all in advance
