Trouble talking to Online 7.24 on Sun from an NT Workstation

Hi all,
Not sure where to turn so I thought I'd try this place first. I've set
up a simple online 7.24 database on our sun box (Sparc 20, Solaris 2.4)
so that we could test out Informix. I'm pretty sure that online is up
and running because from the sun box itself I can run dbaccess and
onmonitor and oncockpit. My client workstation is an NT workstations
4.0 box. I've got ICONNECT installed on my box. I picked every option
when I do the install, so I get all the programs. My problem appears to
be this. From the readme for the Online database it seems that informix
only supports the following protocols on my platform:
TLI using TCP/IP
TLI using IPX/SPX
IPC using stream pipe.
No problem I thought, so I set up TLI using TCP/IP. Setup the services
file, and the sqlhosts (ontlitcp setting) files, and the onconfig file
(I use an alias?) for the tcp servername in the sqlhosts file, and
online starts up fine. So I go to my client and try to do the setup
using the setnet32 program but when I get to the protocolname selection,
ontlitcp is not on the list of available protocols. Now I'm stuck. So
I go back to my server, stop online. Edit the sqlhosts file to try the
Sockets using TCP/IP protocol (onsoctcp) setting. Now when I try to
startup Online, it fails giving some strange error message. Put it back
to TLI using TCP and it starts up. I don't have the software on my sun
to do IPX/SPX and my understanding is that IPC can't be used over a
network. How can I configure what protocols the client uses. Is the
protocol list determined at install time. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Nick
