Re: Multiple NETTYPE Definitions in ONCONFIG
Posted in 1996
Hi,
as far as I know, the nettype parameter in the onconfig overwrites the
default configuration. That means the shared-memory connection goes over
the cpu-vp and any other connection over the net-vp, if one is needed.
You may change this behaviour and put in the max. no. of threads and
so on as well, i guess.
And yes, I experienced no problems. However, Your sqlhosts file provides
the connection information itself. In our case, we have only two
instances of online on our server, each with 1 dbname and 1 alias:
instance1 onipcshm myhost inst1_conn
instance1_net ontlitcp myhost inst1_serv
instance2 onipcshm myhost inst2_conn
instance2_net ontlitcp myhost inst2_serv
Note that inst1_conn and inst2_conn are just dummy-entries, they don't
appear in your services-file, but must be unique anyway.
As you have not included your config-files in your post, I can't tell
if you already did it this way.
We had some net-problems, too, until we solved it this way, now we're
fine.
