Copy instance + RSS

HI
Using IDS 11.50:
First of all we have an instance called idsrestore inside a machine P550. Were
trying to have other instance with same information now called idsrestorebkp
at the same machine P550. At the same time we want to start the RSS
replication mode.
We used at the original instance:
onmode d add RSS idsrestorebkp
ontape s L 0 t STDIO F | ontape_RSS_restore.ksh
file ontape_RSS_restore.ksh
#!/bin/ksh
export INFORMIXSERVER=idsrestorebkp
export ONCONFIG=onconfig.idsrestorebkpontape p rename f listfile t STDIO > /dev/null 2>&1
everything goes OK, but when I try to finish the process at the secondary
instance:
onmode d RSS idsrestore
appears:
The mode change is not allowed since the chunks have been renamed
I think I do have the solution, but I want to be sure Im completely right. I
have to shutdown the secondary instance, start again using the same commands,
but without the rename option.
Tks for your help

If you restore idsrestorebkp on the same machine without the rename opt=
ion,
then you will be restoring the chunks to the same path as idsrestore, w=
hich
will overwrite the chunks of your primary node. If you want to run a
primary and a RSS (works for HDR also) on the same machine, probably th=
e
easiest thing to do is to use relative paths. For example
primary_path =3D <path_to_primary>
rss_path =3D <path_to_rss>
chunks for primary are located in $primary_path/chunks
chunks for rss are located in $rss_path/chunks
ROOTPATH for onconfig.idsrestore contains a relative path, for example
ROOTPATH ./chunks/root_chunk
ROOTPATH for onconfig.idsrestorebkp contains the same relative path
ROOTPATH ./chunks/root_chunk
TAPEDEV for both onconfig.idsrestore and onconfig.idsrestorebkp are the=
same path
TAPEDEV /path_to_backup/some_file
Start the primary in $primary_path from one window
cd $primary_path
oninit -iy
onmode -d add RSS idsrestorebkp
ontape -s -L 0
Start the rss in $rss_path from another window
cd $rss_path
ontape -p
onmode -d RSS idsrestore
If you add dbspaces/chunks, make sure you are in $primary_path and use
relative path for the -p option, for example
cd $primary_path
onspaces -c -d tmpdbs -t -p ./chunks/tmpdbs -o 0 -s 10000it will get replicated to $rss_path/chunks/tmpdbs
