Sounds like you need to set umask

<->From: Charles Perez <perez@mgr.uucp> <->Subject: New .4ge Execute Permissions <->Date: 2 Jul 92 14:31:50 GMT <->We are running Informix-4GL version 4.00.UH1 on Ultrix, and we have a <->problem. .4ge files end up with permissions "rwx------", and we want <->to give execute permission to everyone. Any ideas on how to do this <->automatically with just the I-4GL package (I already use a shellscript <->that runs "i4gl", then "chmod +x *.4ge", but I want something more <->reliable)? I haven't been able to find any file mask specific to <->Informix. <->Thanks. umask in your UNIX shell may be giving the the trouble. Check your .profile to see what umask is being set in your .profile. Do: umask [return] to find the umask you are running. It will return the current value. This is also set for the system in /etc/profile. You can change the umask in your start up script, unless the Ultrix or 4ge generation programs are calling umask again. Check your man page for umask or your UNIX manuals for a detailed description. Cheryl Gross Red River Army Depot Texarkana, Texas (903) 334-3518
