Hy, Situation given: IDS 9.4/10.0 on Linux, IDS 11.5 (Dev) on Windows XP CSDK 2.90/3.00/3.50 on Windows XP I tried to store the ⬠Euro sign through ODBC into any database into a varchar or char field. No matter how I try, I receive a error like that: [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver]Unspecified System Error = -21005. (#21005) I played around with client and database locales, no chance. Every special character (Umlaut, sharp s etc ) is working fine, except the ⬠Euro character. But: with CSDK 2.40, it is workingâ¦. Is this a official bug, or am I missing some settings? Could you share some more details? We would like to know all DB/CLIENT locale settings you tried. What was the regional setting of your Windows OS? Was DBMONEY set? If so, what it was set to? Is your database UTF8? If you can provide small testcase would be helpful. -Shesh "Jörg Volz" <Joerg@it-volz.de> Sent by: ids-bounces@iiug.org 28/01/2009 03:19 Please respond to ids@iiug.org To ids@iiug.org cc Subject CSDK 2.90 / 3.00 / 3.50 and EURO sign [14646] Hy, Situation given: IDS 9.4/10.0 on Linux, IDS 11.5 (Dev) on Windows XP CSDK 2.90/3.00/3.50 on Windows XP I tried to store the â⬠Euro sign through ODBC into any database into a varchar or char field. Hy and thanks for the hint. de_DE.8859-15 as DB and Client locale did the job very fine. Thank you very much. regards, Joerg "Center, negative on the traffic. I see only a flock of birds." Hi Joerg,
This might be a good test to add to your suite,
This just makes sure that code set conversion is happening
correctly for the environment that you are running in.
If you have problems please let me know
As,
The code point for euro on Windows is 0x80.
The code point for euro in 8859-15 is 0xa4.
And
you are running on windows with DB_LOCALE and CLIENT_LOCALE =
de_de.8859-15
we should check that the code point "0xA4" was actually inserted into the
database.
You mentioned that a version of IDS is running on linix,
If you have access to an X environment Id set
LC_ALL=de_DE.iso885915@euro (or the 8859-15 equivalent) before running a
terminal (most terminals will detect this setting and use it for
displaying characters)
If you are using a terminal emulator ensure that it is configured
to use 8859-15.
In this terminal set CLIENT_LOCALE=de_de.8859-15.
For windows,
CLIENT_LOCALE should be de_de.cp1252
In both environments (all environments that connect to the database) set
DB_LOCALE=de_de.8859-15
If you run the statement in both the unix and windows environments,
insert into tab values ("â¬");You should get the same character inserted to the database (0xa4)
If you then run (in both environments)
select col from tab where col = "â¬");You should see 2 rows returned in both environments, In the linux
environment "0xa4" will be returned and in windows environment "0x80" will
be returned for both rows.
Gerry.
