Please read ! N.L. Interface for RDBM's
Dear Friend: As part of my M.S thesis project, I have developed a Natural Language Interface for a Relational Database. This interface accepts queries in ENGLISH and converts them to SQL. These SQL Queries are then executed against a Relational Database Management System. The system implements a PERSONNEL DATABASE and is now ready for beta testing. You may pose multiple queries to the database by sending email to the address given below (or reply to this mail) 1. sheth@cs.scarolina.edu 2. Please put each query on a separate line. 3. In the subject field type WIZARD. 4. You will receive an automated response within 24 hours. 5. Please DO NOT include this mail in your response. Thank You for your cooperation Vipul Sheth Dept. of Computer Science University of South Carolina sheth@cs.scarolina.edu -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Personnel Database contains following records NAME SSN DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR DATE_HIRED Angelo, M. 789634456 Purchasing Dixon, D. 02/15/86 Chang, W. 243686900 Marketing McCoy, S. 09/30/91 Cook, S. 234554234 Accounting Willis, B. 08/15/87 Donald, R. 585489736 Purchasing Dixon, D. 09/30/73 Gold, R. 127465490 Marketing McCoy, S. 09/15/88 Greger, M. 383476476 Payroll Willis, B. 09/15/79 Mills, F. 243587938 Marketing McCoy, S. 01/09/87 Peak, M. 423356575 Accounting Willis, M. 02/12/93 Sharp, K 423443455 Marketing McCoy, S. 01/31/93 Smith, J. 243238943 Payroll Willis, B. 01/10/92 Steven, G. 156234578 Purchasing Dixon, D. 05/15/89 Taylor, P. 764905832 Purchasing Dixon, D. 09/13/88 Thomas, T. 678793574 Purchasing Dixon, D. 05/15/77 Thompson, D. 243568357 Payroll Willis, B. 03/16/89 White, T. 989988999 Marketing McCoy, S. 06/15/90 William, L. 275789563 Accounting Willis, M. 07/15/90 Winters, M. 235453468 Purchasing Dixon, D. 02/13/92 Wright, V. 250917476 Marketing McCoy, S. 08/15/79 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some typical queries What department does Smith, J. work in ?
