I had this problem once at the 5.x level, and the only solution (shy of physical restore from level 0) was to have an Informix Engineer dial in and "zero out" the logical log files. So physical recovery happens, logical recovery doesn't. The engineer uploaded a program called tbzero.c, compiled it, and then ran it against the engine. We lost the pending transactions, but that was all.
