informix versions for linux?

(sorry for previous post - accidentally sent) Hi Folks, I'm new at Linux and Informix, and I'm trying to find out if I can get an updated version of IDS. However, I'm more confused than ever after getting off the phone with customer support. My situation: I currently have IDS.2000 9.20.UC1 (part of FOUNDATION.2000) which I'm trying to get running on RedHat Linux 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14-5 and glibc 2.1.3-15). Thanks to help from people on this list I worked around the NOAGE=1 bug and managed to get the server to start more than once. The bug is supposed to be fixed in 9.21.UC4, so I'd like to upgrade. I noticed a few things, however about product applicability regarding linux kernel and glibc versions: 1) the machine-specific notes for 9.20.UC1 (the version I have) say it's targeted to 2.2.5 and 2.1.1, respectively. They don't say "or higher." 2) IDS.2000 product information for Linux (http://www.informix.com/informix/resource/ids2000.htm#machine) shows only two versions - 9.21.UC2 and 9.20.UC1, no UC4! Finally, 3) notes for 9.21.UC2 say it's targeted for kernel 2.2.12 or higher and glibc 2.1.2 or higher. So what I'd love to know is: o How could the Linux-specific bug be fixed by a version (UC4) that isn't available (UC2 latest)? o Are people using 9.20.UC1 with anything other than the recommended kernel and glibc versions, esp. those that come with RH 6.2? o Is 9.21.UC4 available? o Should I upgrade to 9.21.UC2 or 9.21.UC4? If so, how do I convince the customer support person that the "or higher" is valid? o Is anyone using 9.21.UC2 or 9.21.UC4 with RH 6.2? Whew! Thanks in advance... matt
Hi Matt!
1) NOAGE=1 on Linux platform does nothing then set CPU VPS to realtime
priority. Linux does not have faculty called 'CPU affinity'. Simply forget
about it.
2) I tested IDS.2000 9.[20, 21] on kernel 2.2.15, 2.2.16, 2.2.17, 2.4.0-test
10 pre 3.
3) I nothing did not hear about UC4 as well as about UC3.
P.S.
I tested IDS.2000 9.20 and 9.21 on dual cpu Linux box - CPU NOAGE=1 works
fine, but on single cpu Linux box
IDS with NOAGE=1 lock my system. When I started other process with realtime
priotity (for example bash ) before oninit - all work fine.
Good luck.
Sergey.
