MS-Access & OBDC. Help Wanted!!!

Hi there, Informix Gurus! Looking for hints, tips, do's & don'ts on what is involved in implementing a GUIfront-end like MS-Access. I am already aware of how to get ODBC drivers from Q+E Software or alternatives I picked from the FAQ. I would greatly appreciate anyone's expertise/know-how in terms of config from an INFORMIX standpoint as well as from a MS-ACCESS standpoint. I also would like to obtain any information about current issues (good or bad) that I might face in a typical implementation. Although I hear performance is relatively poor, I still need to understand how this could be improved in any way or is poor performance a normal drawback of using ODBC. Does anyone have comments on using OS/2 as the client's O/S rather than DOS? Could this have any positive effect on the alledged "poor" performance? Having standardized on MS-Office as the office automation suite, this jus seems like a natural step to use Access as a "standard" presentation tool for data queries. Other alternatives (Informix tools or otherwise) accepted. Finally, how about New Era? What stage is it at (beta, alpha, drawing board)? Does anyone have experience with it yet? Comments are welcome. Thank you in advance for your very valuable contribution, Daniel Dansereau Systemes Logikinfo Inc. logiknfo@nash.pubnix.qc.ca
