What does "WARNING: Network Down" mean?

I have OnLine 6.0 running on my HP-UX workstation.
I have dbaccess running on that same workstation.
I could connect them either via shared memory or via TCP.
I chose to go with TCP.
The relevant line in my 'sqlhosts' file looks like this:
========
mywstn_tcp olsoctcp mywstn inf1
--------The relevant lines in /etc/services look like this:
========
inf1 6100/udp
inf1 6100/tcp
--------
When I run 'onmonitor', do [Mode], [Startup], and [On-Line],
I wind up with a status line that says:
====
** WARNING: Network Down **--On-Line-- ...
----
Sure enough, when I run 'dbaccess', and do [Query-lanugage],
it prompts me to "SELECT DATABASE" and lists two databases:
========
mydbase@mywstn_tcp
sysmaster@mywstn_tcp
--------
And, sure enough, if I select "mydbase@mywstn_tcp", it connects!
So, why is it saying "** WARNING: Network Down **" ?????
I called tech support, and they say it's because my network is down;
that it's not an Informix error at all.
However, I use tcp/ip continuously, day-in-day-out, using
rlogin, telnet, ftp, NIS, NFS, AFS, Mosaic, etc etc etc.
They all work. More to the point, my dbaccess connection works.
Ideas?
