Hi,
I have been using Informix/Linux (Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.U)
happily on Linux, until now, when I trieed to activate a TCP connection
in addition to the shm. I added an entry to the sqlhosts file, mentioned
it in DBSERVERALIAS, and upon startup (oninit) I get the follwoing in the
log:
Tue Sep 14 19:14:42 1999
19:14:42 Event alarms enabled. ALARMPROG = '/usr/informix/etc/log_full.sh'
19:14:48 DR: DRAUTO is 0 (Off)
19:14:48 Requested shared memory segment size rounded from 588KB to 592KB
19:14:48 Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.U Software Serial Number ...
19:14:48 listener-thread: err = -27100: oserr = 2: errstr = : Internal Communications Error: NSF subsystem error.
System error = 2.
19:14:48 Attempting to bring listener thread down
19:14:48 PANIC: Attempting to bring system down
I checked a lot of things (even tried to hunt the problem with strace
because I assumed "System error=2" might be an ENOENT for some thing or
other) but to no avail.
I saw that this problem has been reported to this group by somebody
else a few months ago, but he didn't get a followup besides "use a
newer kernel" (I am using 2.2.12)... any hope?
Thanks, again
Frederik

We might need to know what follows the U; UC5 is dubious; UC7 should
be OK.

Are you using olsoctcp (correct) or oltlitcp (incorrect)?

Have you tracked down (with finderr or otherrwise) what the -27100
error means?

It looks like you're running an old version (UC5?), which had a known
problem with soctcp... have you tried the current version (7.30.UC7)?

U is all it says in the online.log, and onstat doesn't say more either...
The release notes I have say UC5 though. Can you point me to somewhere
where I can find out what exactly is dubious about this and if/how
to upgrade?

I assume you mean onsoctcp, that's what I am using.

I tried but finderr says "message not found" and my dead-tree
Informix error codes manual only has a big gap where -27100 ought
to be.
