I 'm sorry, I'm puzzled and I don't understand. We can insert pound signs (#) ASCII ( 0x23 ) without any problem. We're using Informix 7.1 on an HP 9000. I don't know of a DB_LOCALE environment variable. Are you talking about the pound as in the British currency unit? If so, what about DBMONEY? I get some strange characters "2E" in the message below.
