Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

AFAIK, an ALTER TABLE tries to grab an exclusive lock on the table before it can
do anything. Your best bet would probably be to revoke permissions on the quote
table from all but informix, bounce the engine, alter the table, and re-grant
all permissions the way it was on the table.

Subject: Committed read
I am working on stock trading database where there is a 'quote' table
accessed by multiple web users in commited read islation level. onstat -k
shows a shared lock for placed. Now I want to alter table and change the
page level locking of the table to row level. It returns an error
-242 Could not open database table table-name.
What isolation level do I use for alteration to a table when the table will
have a shared lock?
TIA
