Re: CONSTRUCT bytes

A big thanks to all who responded regarding my question about the number of bytes that CONSTRUCT creates for "char_variable." Quoting Todd Glidden of CSC Corp. at the Sacramento Army Depot, CA > I usually go for the maximum, which is 256 bytes (good luck finding this in > the Informix manuals!). Wouldn't you think Todd that Informix would put that in their manual in the entry for CONSTRUCT? Since CONSTRUCT was upgraded in version 4.1, I'm wondering (since we don't yet have 4.1) if they have upgraded the documentation beyond notes about the new features. I remember seeing that 256 byte figure somewhere in an Informix manual or Tech Notes article (maybe I saw it in the old Informix 3.3 manual!). I think just a tad bit of info about the bytes *should* be included in the manual entry for CONSTRUCT (if it's not already there in 4.1)! Maybe I should send this suggestion in on one of those "Tech Notes Reader Response Cards", but I wonder if it would go only to the Tech Notes editor and get placed in his/her circular file?
