Without wanting to blow my own trumpet too much, have you seen/heard of isqlperl? If you like shell scripts (+ sed + awk + grep + tr + ...) then you'll *love* perl, and isqlperl is perl with built in SQL commands for Informix. Available by anonymous ftp from ftp.demon.co.uk [158.152.1.68] in pub/perl/db/isqlperl You'll need esql/c (or 4gl) to build it. If you're not sold on that, a shell-ish way to do things would be: isql - - <<EOF your query goes here EOF but of course you have no idea if anything went wrong with the query :--( -- Cheers Bill =========================================================================== | Bill Hails <bill@tardis.co.uk> | Reisner's rule of conceptual inertia: | | C.L.I.
