Upgradation to IDS 2000 (ver 9.20)

Hello friends, We are planning to upgrade our Informix 7.24 to either 7.31 or IDS 2000 (ver 9.20). I understood from Informix that support to 7.24 will go in low priority from July onwards. Has any one faced any problems while upgrading from 7.24 to IDS 2000 (ver 9.20). Thanks in advance Vinod Bhansali ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
i make a humble suggestion about your migration:
please make a tiny instance from your current version.
build stores or some other.. db.
install 9.20 in its own directory of course.
bring down the small instance, and bring it up in 9.20.
then you may or may not see a problem; if you are using
onbar you may have to test that to see if onbar is working ok.
you may have to add sm_versions to the $INFORMIXDIR/bin ,
a small empty file.
whatever you do back up everything you can and give
yourself time for the migration.

I would move to 7.31 at the moment. This is guaranteed
to have support until the end of the year.
IDS 2000 is new and hence less tested in the real world.

Be sure, that you have no versioned tables, (oncheck -pT) caused of
inplace alters. This might be a problem during upgrade.
Everything else is fine.
