There are two ways to start the engine on NT (three if you count
running "oninit"): starting it as a service or with the unsupported
"starts" command.
The "oninit" command still runs on NT as Sean explained, but that is
certainly *not* the way users are intended to start the engine. It
is unfortunate, IMHO, that the command runs on NT at all.
Informix training has a new course on System Administration on NT with
extensive hands-on exercises on using the registry and the IECC.
I highly recommend this course to anyone who is an Informix DBA in
the NT environment.
There are also other courses available describing what a Unix DBA
needs to know about NT, and also which parts of NT a Unix DBA should
know.
