Our archive tape set is configured at two data tapes and parity tape. You can use as many drives as reasonable consistent with the speed you can strip data off your hard drives. We love this method, since Informix currently locks the database while a tape is rewinding. With this method, tbtape never sees an EOT, and our backups are faster. I'll bet Sun has something similar. -- Naomi Walker (aka N7FSA) naomi@anasazi.com Phoenix, Arizona To get the full value of joy, you must have someone to divide it with. ---Mark Twain
