Just my 2 cents worth: I have a HP T500, T520, and 2 K200's which all have two processors. I found that running with the MULTIPROCESSOR set to two was the way to go. My performance while running config'd as one cpu was good, but sometimes I'd see the one cpu at 100% while the other one was almost idle. During this time, no other processes could connect to the database. When I changed to config'd as two cpu's, this problem went away and I didn't notice any difference in performance.
