upgrade from 9.12 to 9.14UC8
Posted in 2000
i am migrating from 9.12 to 9.14, on the way to 9.20
its an hpux 10.20 platform, 1cpu.
I have migrated one of the 4 instances to 9.14 ok:
bringing down the instance , then simply copying over the
config file into the new release etc/ directory, exporting INFORMIXDIR
and INFORMIXSERVER
and INFORMIXSQLHOSTS, brought the instance up using onmonitor and
voila
all was well.
Things did not go well with the second instance however, although
everything was the same
procedure. I got some error messages and while in onmonitor tried
mode->startup i guess
once too much, because at that point i had a shared memory error.
I finally have legato recovering back to the original instance as of 2
days ago,
even tho its been in fast recovery for about 2 hours i am hopeful that
all will come back up.
If it doesn't i expect i will just have to go directly to reinitilize
the disks as a 9.14 engine,
and import the schemas . its almost a null database, mostly a
development instance, but
its useful to know how the procedure works, as well as what to expect
from onbar.
anybody have similar problems, maybe I'm missing an environment
variable.
also i noticed tmp filled up while it was recovering, mostly bar_act.log
file, but it was at 100%
allocated, and maybe that was part of the problem. how much space should
there be to recover,
is that an issue?
