Is there a tape in the drice? Is the tape write protected ? Have youy
tried a different tape? Have you changed the tape parameters or
onconfig since the last ontape -a, if so change them back.
Keith
Hi,
you are sure that the tape mounted on
device /dev/rmt/0 is OK?
And the tape device itself is OK and working?
You can try to execute as user "informix" a
command like the following to test the tape
device and tape:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rmt/0 bs=2048 count=100
The output of this should be something like:
100+0 records in
100+0 records out
If you see anything else (especially errors), then you
have to fix the tape drive or tape first.
To clarify the state of IDS, you may want to run
command "onstat -l" to see the state of the log files.
Anything helpful in the message log ("onstat -m")?
"onstat -g ath" will tell what threads there are and what
activity they are persuing.
If you suspect the problem is in the server, then the
above 3 onstat commands will be a starting point for
more detailed analysis (possibly to be done by
IBM Informix Tech Support).
Regards,
Martin

As mentioned by Martin and Keith erlier, this issue normally happens with tape
or tape drive. If tape is writable, no change in ONCONFIG etc. Another
possibility to change SCSI terminator and SCSI cable on TAPE DRIVE. I had this
issue about 2 years ago and it fixed by changing SCSI terminator and SCSI
cable.
Cheers.
