Warning! Physical log size is too small.
Posted in 2000
Hello guys,
Our current NETTYPE settings are as follows :
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,64,CPU
NETTYPE soctcp,2,128,NET
Previously the settings were as follows :
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,64,NET
NETTYPE soctcp,2,128,CPU
After making the change in the settings I was getting following error :
Severity : 3
OnLine Initialization failure.
WARNING! Physical Log size 40960 is too small. Physical Log overflows may
occur during peak activity. Recommended minimum Physical Log size is 20
times maximum concurrent user threads.
To avoid this I increased the PHYSFILE from 40960 to 122880
But still, today I got the same error :
Severity : 3
OnLine Initialization failure.
WARNING! Physical Log size 122880 is too small. Physical Log overflows may
occur during peak activity. Recommended minimum Physical Log size is 20
times maximum concurrent user threads.
At the same time when I got the error I counted the no. of userthreads with
the following command : onstat -u | wc -l and those were more than 3100.
I have following queries :
Does the above change in the NETTYPE parameters allow more userthreads to
start/operate?
I expect max 200 concurrent users in my system, but the count of the
userthreads is much high. Does this mean that PSORT_NPROCS or PDQPRIORITY
feature is used the code/application?
Do I still need to increase the PHYSFILE?
Other than this error the system is fine, low checkpoint duration 0-5, high
cached read/write >98, >95.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
