Can Alaramprogram generate alert if problem is fix

Hi All, I am using the alarmprogram.sh functionality in the IDS 11.70 FC7 to generate the alert and send out the email to the admin group if the event severity is greater than 3. Now, sometimes due to network issues, it generates the alert for the HDR/RSS disconnection but it automatically gets recovered when the network is back (thanks to HDR/RSS capabilities). So I want to know that if there is any script/functionality available in informix which could also generate the similar alert email when the alert is fixed/recovered automatically? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Khan
I'd have to check, but I think the "DR: Operational" message does not call the alarmprogram. I can imagine this will surprise you... But it happens for several messages (backup finishing also don't call it if I remember correctly). Solutions: 1- Setup ALRM_ALL_EVENTS which will call alarmprogram for every message written to online.log. This may be an overkill 2- Setup a script "tailing" online.log search for specific strings. I have such a script, but It depends on others possibly... But I can provide it... 3- Do the same as 2) with a dbscheduler task. There is a "view" over the online.log Regards On Mon, Feb 24, 2014 at 4:22 PM, O KHAN <theultimateboy@hotmail.com> wrote: > Hi All, > > I am using the alarmprogram.sh functionality in the IDS 11.70 FC7 to > generate > the alert and send out the email to the admin group if the event severity > is > greater than 3. > > Now, sometimes due to network issues, it generates the alert for the > HDR/RSS > disconnection but it automatically gets recovered when the network is back > (thanks to HDR/RSS capabilities). > So I want to know that if there is any script/functionality available in > informix which could also generate the similar alert email when the alert > is > fixed/recovered automatically? > > Any help would be appreciated. Hi Fernando, Thanks for your response. Can you provide me your script for the tailing solution? Also please suggest that if we configure the ALRM_ALL_EVENTS, then is there anything scripted in the existing alarmprogram.sh script to pick all the "Recovery/Operation/Completed" alerts? Also i suspect, it might impact the engine/instance performance as well? Additionally, can you specify which job does the trailing kind of functionality in the sysadmin scheduler? Thanks. Regards, Khan
In the past, I have added the following snippet of logic to my alarm script to look for HDR up and HDR down. I believe it ran in Korn shell. Hope this helps. # If severity=1, check text for important stuff if [ $AL_SEVER -eq 1 ] then $ECHO "\\ ******* ALARM MESSAGE ***** \\ " > $MAIL_MESG msg_str=${AL_ADD_TEXT:0:25} case "$msg_str" in "CDR connection to server " ) subj_txt="sees CDR DOWN" ;; "CDR: Re-connected to serv" ) subj_txt="CDR BACK UP" ;; "DR: Primary server operat" ) subj_txt="HDR PRI BACK UP" ;; "DR: Secondary server oper" ) subj_txt="HDR SEC BACK UP" ;; # dynamically allocated 100000 locks "dynamically allocated 100" ) subj_txt="Added 100K locks" info_only=1 dont_page=1 ;; * ) # (5,6) subj_txt=" ($AL_SEVER,$AL_CLASS) " /bin/rm -f $MAIL_MESG exit 0 ;; esac elif [ $AL_SEVER -ge 3 ] then Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fernando Nunes" <domusonline@gmail.com> To: ids@iiug.org Sent: Monday, February 24, 2014 11:37:59 AM Subject: Re: Can Alaramprogram generate alert if proble....
