You do *not* need to be informix to do it. That does assume that the permissions on the files are set correctly (and not NFS-mounted via a mount that prohibits SUID programs, for example). However, someone suggested the su informix -c "command and args" trick. Someone else supplied some scripts. And there should be code in the IIUG Software Archive that can be adapted to HP-UX (eg my Informix Utilities package, utils_jl, files ius.rc and ods.rc).
