RE: ODBC /Informix

The following procedure should allow you to access Informix database tables using MS Access 97: 1. Create a User DSN (or System DSN) using the ODBC Data Source Administrator from the Control panel. 2. Within MS ACCESS: a. Select File -> New Database b. Double click on Blank Database c. Click on Create d. Select File -> Get External Data -> Link Tables... e. Select ODBC under "Files of type:" f. Click on the "Machine Data Source" tab g. Double click on the desired "Data Source Name" h. Select the names of Informix tables which you want to access. i. Click OK and wait for links to be built. We just went through this procedure yesterday. Good luck. -----Original Message----- From: Dave McNight [mailto:dmcnight@bju.edu] Sent: Friday, October 30, 1998 10:48 To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: ODBC /Informix We are using MS Access Office 97 and want to access an Informix 7.24 database using the Intersolv ODBC driver supplied on the Informix Client SDK. We installed the ODBC driver and it shows up under Microsoft's ODBC Adminstrator tool. We have also installed Informix ESQL/C 7.23 TC9 software to provide the TCP/IP connectivity to the Informix db engine from the WIN NT 4.0 workstation. We created a hosts file and a services file on the WIN NT 4.0 Work station. We created the setnet32 entries and ran the ilogin32 program. We made a successful connection to the Informix database on our Unix server. When we go into the MS ODBC Adminstrator and try to add a File DSN data source using the Intersolv ODBC driver, we are unable to make a connection. The message we receive was "The setup routines for the Intersolve 3.10 32-bit (IVINF913.dll) Informix 9 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126. Could not load the setup or translator library". Any ideas of what to try next? Do all of the Informix setnet32 values saved in the ndx files need to be added somewhere? Thanks for your assistance!
