cdr_deltab tables/sync up tables

IDS 9.4 tied to IDS 9.3 All transactions are originating on the 9.4 server and are replicated to the 9.3 server. Each table is defined as a replicant. I'm in the process of changing replicants from conflict resolution setting "Ignore" to conflict resolution "Timestamp". 1)I'm now seeing tables in my database called cdr_deltab_000xxx. I've done a google search and a documentation search in the replication guide and do not see an explanation of these tables. The person I talked to at tech support yesterday did not understand them either. He told me they would remain until I deleted all the replicants. How are these tables formed and what do I need to do to manage them? 2) What kinds of queries are you running to sync up table contents? 3) What kinds of utilities are you using to analyze the contents of the ats and ris files? TIA Dave Thacker

How are these >tables formed and what do I need to do to manage them? They are refered to as delete tables. They contain a copy of the row when it is deleted. This is then used as part of conflict resolution. (i.e. which operation should win - the update or the delete) If we didn't have them, then deleted rows could reappear. You don't need to manage them. They are constantly being pruned to eliminate rows which are no longer needed. >2) What kinds of queries are you running to sync up table contents? > >3) What kinds of utilities are you using to analyze the contents of the >ats and ris files? I'm not going to answer these two because I'd really like to see the answers that folks respond with. I realize that you're not going to be on 10.x, but in 10.x we have added quite a bit of new functionality to perform these types of tasks. The V10 replication manual? Are there other sources? I might find some compelling reasons to schedule my upgrade sooner. Thanks for your help. Mostly in the v10 documentation. In v10, we have the ability to 1) re-try from the ATS/RIS files. Also, we are planning on enabling some additional functionality in the UC4 interim which should further enhance the ability to check for inconsistant data as well as automatically repair anything found to be inconsistant - so I think that I'll be pushing v10UC4 fairly strong for ER customers. If you're going to the IIUG winter session in Atlanta, I'll be discussing this. There weren't many responses. Does anyone have some favorite techniques they'd like to share for handling this problem on 9.4 and below? > > I realize that you're not going to be on 10.x, but in 10.x we have > added quite a bit of new functionality to perform these types of > tasks. It looks good. I should be able to test after the first of the year...
