EMERGENCY: New Idea #1

I have a new idea that I want to bounce of you folks. First, for those not
familiar with my major problem i will repeat the text of my original message
as follows:
------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL
MESSAGE ---------------------------------------------
The following error appears after the question "Do you want to back up the
logs?"
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory creation.
Background: I have used this command before to do a complete cold restore of
the database. The one suspect event in the recent past which may account for
this trouble is I have recently installed I-Connect. I am currently using
7.31 of the Informix Dynamic Server on HPUX. I need to try to resolve this
problem before the start of the buisness weed on Monday morning.
-------------------------------------- NEW IDEA ---- PLEASE
VALIDATE -------------------------------------------
I still have 7.24 installed on my system but it is not in use as I am
currently using 7.31.
Questions:
1) Is it worth trying to use the 7.24 "ontape -r" command (execute by
giving absolute path name).
2) Will a database restored with 7.24 software then work with 7.31 software
without conversions.
3) Do I need to do more than get the absolute path name to the old 7.24
ontape command. For the purpose of running this command should I temporarily
modify any environment variables to the old 7.24 settings.
Whenever this has happened to us doing an "ontape -r" it's normally because
the onconfig.live file has been copied from another machine and the NUMCPUS
is different between some of the machines here. The parameter PHYSFILE
...... must match or be greater than the one used when doing the Level0.
Yours
