Need Advice...

We're currently running our R4GL 4.0 w/SE 4.1 and I-Net 4.1 on a network of 486s running SCO Unix 3.2.4. On-Line 4.1 was installed onto the database server as a test last December. We were able migrate a copy of our SE database into On-Line Version UD3 and our application ran fine. We decided to stay with the SE engine still as we did not have the resources in house to adminster On-Line. A couple of weeks ago we installed a new 50 Mhz Dell 486 and again installed On-Line onto it. We were able to unload from SE into On-Line, but this time our application dies with and -408 error. I belive that we have the same release of the O/S (SCO 3.2.4, one from 6 months ago, one from last month), the same relase of On-Line UD3. The only difference is that the working server is a Compaq/33 with 24 Megs RAM, and the non- working on is a DELL/50 with 128 Megs of RAM. What can be wrong??? Informix tech support cannot duplicate the problem at their end, and we are being told that if we upgrade to 5.0 the problem will go away. Is this true? My main concern is that will 4.0 front ends run with 5.0 back ends? I would rather not move to a 4.1 front end at this time, as our application runs just fine under 4.0. (I'm afraid of introducing errors that always creep up when you migrate from one release to another.) Thanks in advance for any pointers. Charles Lei Mediatech, Inc.
