Please send details solution. :We use the following software: : Visual Basic ver 3.0 : FTP PC TCP/IP : Informix-On-Line ver 7.10 : Intersolv Data Direct MultiLink/VB : Informix-Net 5.x I assume your statement that ILogin is faster means it's acceptably fast (not necessarly particularly fast, but..). What do you mean exactly by "establish the connection"? Is it the time from you start the VB application until a password dialog box appears, the time from that appears until you see some data, or what? The interesting timing is the time from the opendatabase statement is executed until the login box appears and the time from you press the OK button in the login box until the next statement in your VB code is executed. Anything else is to dependent on your VB application code for this to be a particularly appropriate group to post questions in. (To some extent it's also appropriate to ask such questions here in my opinion, as we should help each other on any use of Informix databases even if non Informix products are used.) Details details, and someone might be able to help you. A sidenote is that you doesn't seem to run with the latest in software technology here. It shouldn't effect you as badly as this, but it should be well known by know that Intersolve Data Direct and I-Net isn't exactly the fastest solution on the market. (Openlink and SQL Retriever are better alternatives.) Also most people have gone to the Microsoft TCP/IP implementations by now (it is available for free). That does require at least Windows 3.11 (WfW) or preferably Windows NT or 95. As you are still using VB ver 3.0 I assume you are on Windows 3.x also. VB 4.0 has very much better remote database support than in 3.0, but to utilize it properly requires Windows NT or 95. The end result will be so much better however it's usually wirthwhile to upgrade. The support and bug fixes you can get is also much better. Very little new development is done on Windows 3.x these days. Nils.Myklebust@ccmail.telemax.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company
