This is an artifact of how Informix archive works. The total percentage is based on the size of the raw chunks. The percent complete is based on the amount written to the log tape. Any pages in the chunk that have never been written to are not archived. These pages will always be at the end of the chunk. TBTAPE is not "intelligent". It reads every page in every chunk. If it has been initialized, then it is written to the archive tape. If it has not been initialized, it is skipped. The scenario of it reading the disk, not writing the tape, and the percent complete zooming up is normal, unless your chunks are completely full, and then you have another problem (grin). ----------------------------------------------------------------- Jim Burks jburks@promus.com The Promus Companies Memphis, Tennessee, USA
