There are loads of tuning parameters, and more than one of these
are applicable to multi-processor machines (but see specifically
"MULTIPROCESSOR 0 # 0 for single-processor, 1 for
multi- processor"). However, having only two processors you may
choose to regard the machine as effectively a single-processor
because the extra processor may not outweigh the overhead of the
more complex locking strategy required in a multi-processor
environment.
You should be able to find some discussion of this in the
newsgroup archives at <www.deja.com> - you could probably improve
on this attempt: http://www.deja.com/[ST_rn=ps]/qs.xp?ST=PS&svcclass=dnyr&QRY=Multi+%2BHP+%2Bprocessors&defaultOp=AND&DBS=1&OP=dnquery.xp&LNG=ALL&subjects=&groups=comp.databases.informix&authors=&fromdate=&todate=&showsort=score&maxhits=25
. Alternatively, if you can post your configuration file (onstat
-c will list it for you) and some more details of the machine
(how much memory does it have?) you may get some good, specific
advice from the group.
