You will have to create the temp files by hand. > 2) When I tried to compile esql/c code calling 4GL functions , It complained > about not finding the > "fglapi.h" , Do I set any parameters to set in the environment ? or are > there any specific > compile options ? The header file fglapi.h is in $INFORMIXDIR/incl/tools so include -I$INFORMIXDIR/incl/tools in your compile command line or use C4GL to compile ESQL/C programs to be used with 4GL. Either way. > 3) After I run a delete statement deleting a large number of rows , I > select > ti_npused pagused , ti_npdata datapage , ti_nrows numrows > from > sysdbspaces , systabinfo where ..... > But , I do not see a reduction in 'datapage' even after I run update > statistics high , Is this expected behaviour ? Pages allocated to a table's extents are NEVER released back to the free page pool unless you manually reorganize the table. The ways to do that and free unused pages are: 1) Unload the table, drop the tables, recreate the table, reload the table. 2) ALTER FRAGMENT ON TABLE tablename INIT IN dbspace(s). This dbspace can be the same dbspace the table already resides in or a different one. Art S. Kagel
