Problem with 4GL CONSTRUCT

One of our key applications relies heavily on query-by-form via CONSTRUCT statements. Today, one of our users (who happens to be a VP) managed to crash the program by entering a search condition containing an embedded apostrophe in it. This SHOULD have been happening all time, since many of the magazine we distribute have embedded apostrophes in their name. Anyhow, the PREPARE statement choked and died trying to do its thing on the CONSTRUCTed WHERE clause. My question is, what in the world can I do about this. I checked the manual, and there doesn't appear to be anyway around this. I even tried escaping the apostrophe, and it still choked. Server: SE 7.2UC5 Hardware: IBM RS/6000 w/ AIX 4.3 Memory: 8GB Database Size: Huge (for SE) - like 23 GB I know, we NEED IDS. Tell that to my boss ;-) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Michael S. Milom Query Master/Programmer Ingram Periodicals, Inc.

But then I am not using the Informix 4GL Compiler. -- Compliments of QueriX -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- QueriX 4GL Compilers are Informix 4GL Compatible. Some features are: True Windows GUI Clients. ActiveX support. HTML Report Generation. More rigorous error handling. Connection to other RDBMS such as Oracle. Connection to all versions of Informix 4GL with no need to change compiler.
