Hayward, This is exactly the problem I chatted about a while back regarding point in time restores. If enough people actually had to restore from their backups they would demand Informix change the way the restore operation works. Unless you put each database in a separate instance you will have no choice but to restore the whole dang instance which will restore any and all data bases in that instance. :-) Best wishes to you... Tim PS The bullet-proof Informix backup is still a backup to disk via table unloads and then spinning the unloads off to another medium.
