oninit processes/basic architecture question

We have three instances running on the same HP 10 box.
ps -elf | grep oninit | wc shows 34 oninit processes running,
about half are oninit and the other half oninit -s processes.
Does this sound like something gone wrong, or are these
processes the result of having light thread processes running?
And does the -s mean shared memory processes or what?
In a similar way, when i ps -elf | grep log_full.sh | wc there are 24
of these processes running.
The alarmprogram is shared by all instances. I sort of expected maybe 3
of these
at max to be running, why so many?
I am using the alarm program to pass thru the engine's severity codes
and other parameters,
and the instance variable, to a pager program, and have un-commented out
the EXIT_STATUS
line as indicated in the notes. How does this affect anything?

All that means is that one or two of the three instances was started
with the '-s' flag indicating that it should come up in quiescent mode
where the default is online or multi-user mode. Apparently that
instance was manually placed online later.

There should not be unless they are all hung for some reason or waiting
for input. Post your log_full.sh and someone may spot the problem.

I don't know without seeing the script.
