ESQL/C: How to abort a time consuming search?
Posted in 1994
Fellow Informix'ers, Here is an ESQL/C question. Once I start a search, is there a clean way to abort ther search? Even if I kill the process that started the search, the corresponding sqlturbo process does not quit, and am afraid to kill the sqlturbo for the fear of creating inconsistencies. Another question. Is there a way to figure out the cost of a search (as reported by SQEXPLAIN) before starting the search? I would like to provide the users an option of not starting the search if the cost is above a threshold value? Are these things doable in ESQL/C? If not, any workarounds for achieving this? Any and all help appreciated on this matter.
