archecker X remote tape
Posted in 2011

Hi, IDS 11.50 FC8 - Aix 5.3 (and 6.1) I'm trying execute a table level restore , using a remote tape (host:/dev/rmt0) But the archecker don't resolv the path to remote tape : ERROR: Error(2) opening tape device(host:/dev/rmt0) STATUS: Scan FAILED STATUS: archecker completed Physical Restore pid = 352490 exit code: 3 rsh works fine between the machines... hosts.equiv is ok (machine what have the tape dev). There is no documentation saying the archecker don't support this... any tips?
If you check the manual or infocenter for the definition of AC_TAPEDEV
under archecker configuration
section you will see the following line. Please note that it says "local
device".
Specifies the local device name used by the ontape utility.

Hi John,
Thanks for your answer.
This is what I found on the Info Center v11.50
Archecker configuration:
-----------
AC_LTAPEDEV Specifies the local device name used by ontape for
reading logical logs.
AC_TAPEDEV Specifies the device name used by the ontape utility.
-------------
AC_TAPEDEV parameter
Default value
None
Range
Any valid path name or STDIO
The AC_TAPEDEV configuration parameter specifies the device name used by
the ontape utility. If the tape device is set to STDIO, archecker
receives input from standard input.
Parent topic: Configuration parameters
----------------
I not sure if who wrote the page of the Archecker misinterpret the
"L"tapedev , as Local device....
Or if just missing the Local device to AC_TAPEDEV... So, the TAPEDEV ,
what I need , don't saying anything about "local device".
Reading this, for me still without clear documentation about archecker
support remote tape.
Regards
Cesar
