Archecker + STDIO
Posted in 2011
Topics: Backup & Restore
Hi there!
Does anybody know if there is a way to perform a table level restore using
archecker + ontape with a backup file compressed (I'd like to use STDIO + a
pipe for that...)
Thanks in advance,
Alberto Pessonio.
My first suggestion would be to use the AC_RESTORE_FILTER configuration
parameter as this can simple some of the STDIO issues. My second
suggestion
would be to check the manual under AC_TAPEDEV as see that it says:
If the tape device is set to STDIO, archecker receives input from standard
input.
No version information is listed in your email so I am assuming 11.70.

Alberto,
have you tried to put AC_TAPEDEV = STDIO in the archecker configuration
file (by default $INFORMIXDIR/etc/ac_config.std) ?

VERSION AND PLATFORM information please. You should be able to do this
depending on the Informix version. IDS 10.00 and later support STDIO
archives and restores including the archecker for table level restore.
Also, 11.10 and later supports the RESTORE_FILTER environment variable to
decompress compressed archives, however, there were some problems using
RESTORE_FILTER with archecker in the early releases of 11.xx.
