If that is possible, what libraries :we need to link into our client SW? : :2. If we need to make some configurations to the data base server, what :they are? : :3. A standard Unix ODBC client sounds a ideal solution for us. Is that :possible? Yes. Check out OpenLink's UDBC drivers which are in effect ODBC on Unix. This are also ANSI/CLI compatible. You do have to install one program on the Sun machine though, but that is a very simple install that requires no changes to the OS or database configuration. You simply copy the program to some directory, run the install script (which simply register your program, and does nothing to the OS). You might then want to do some changes to the request broker ini file. Thereafter you simply start this program, and make sure it is restarted if the machine is rebooted. On the client (HP) you then have a library to write to. I don't know anything about installing this, but it is probably quite simple. PS. I have *not* tested the UDBC client, so I can't tell you how well it works. Judging from the other products of OpenLink it ought to work well though.
