:Hi !
:
:The problem is that there is no real client application for Informix on
:NT. For example, if you want to use dbaccess on a client to access a NT
:server database, you have to install the whole dynamic server on your
:client. This is bad especially if want to administer your databases from
:a client. The solution I found so far is to setup a telnet service. With
:telnet you can logon to your NT server and then work locally on it. You
:can use dbaccess, onmonitor and all the other tools. If you find a
:better solution please tell me !
Instead of dbaccess I would set up ODBC and use MS Access as far as
that goes. For many purposes it's a vastly much better tool.
You should also be able to log on to your NT server using RAS (I think
that's what it's called) and run applications on the server from your
workstation. I haven't yet done this, but will soon. I will report
back when I know more.
