KT reported performance problems after upgrading from Informix 7.24 to 7.31 on a 20 GB database. Niraj Sinha and Obnoxio The Clown asked whether update statistics had been run; KT said yes. Paulo Amorim said 7.31 had bugs with distributions from medium or high update statistics, and that dropping distributions or rebuilding indexes fixed it for him.

So, how about you answer my question?

Does your update statistics command create data distributions ?? This
happens if you run update statistcs medium or high. In 7.31 there were
some bugs related to these distributions. I solved the problem by
dropping the distributions for some tables, and the performance
increased. Another attempt is to drop and recreate indexes, it worked
in our case too.
The problem is that you must analyse the queries that are having
problems, identify the tables, then make your actions... and test !!!!!
Hope this helps.
