> Use of Raid and Informix 6 and above As I see it the raid for fault tollerance can be done with simple mirroring having dual disk ( & controller ) In version 6.x and above the database can take account of mirrors in an asyncronous manner and is thus much faster than v5.x in this respect. Note also that when using hardare striping there may be limits on the size of a stripe in total, ie the maximum on some system is 2Gb as this is the largest disk they used to support. As stripping implies mirrors for security please note that informix has no knowledge of the stripe if done in hardware and hence it is likely that V 7.x (PDQ) will go slower due to not dealing with virtual threads for reading in the optimum manner, If your going to go to seven and above it may be best not to deal with hardare options at all.
