RE: SQL Tracing tools?

Colin,
You said sqlidebug and sqliprint are "internal tools".
Would that be internal as in onstat used to be 'internal'/undocumented
feature....
Or are they "internal tools" as in you have to get them from IBM?
Thanks,
Norma Jean

There is the SQLIDEBUG and sqliprint which are internal tools that can
be used.
They eat up a lot of disk if left on for a long time.
We are having a demo of SQL Power Tools next week which seems very
slick, but with a very expensive price tag. www.sqlpower.com

I've checked the SQL syntax and reference manuals, the performance guide,
the admin guide and admin reference - and found nothing. A Google search,
however, turned up quite a bit. The following links should give you a
pretty good idea of what to do.

Here's the usage file from the NT version of sqliprt.exe. I find the most
simple and generally useful option is the -min option. YMMV
Usage: sqliprt [-tuple] [-blob] [-min] [-cmd_time] [-nocsc] [-summary]
[-stmt_stat [-order_cnt] [-per_thread] [-nogroup]]
[-notimestamp] [-platform type] [-o outfile] [-V] inpfile
-tuple : hex value of TUPLES in PUT and FETCH
-blob : hex value of BLOBS in PUT and FETCH
-min : only print the most minimum information
-udt : print hex value of Fix/Var Binary
-cmd_time : print timing info for each command
-nocsc : turn off codeset convertion
-summary : print summary information at the end
-stmt_stat : print statement statistics grouped by SQL
-order_cnt : order statement stats by count (default: time)
-per_thread : stmt stats per thread
-nogroup : do not group stmt stats by SQL text
-notimestamp: don't print the timestamp
-platform type: type can be either IEEEI, IEEEM or DECALPHA
print the timestamp by the specific platform format in
sqlidebug
file. This is only useful when you are using the sqlidebug
file
from different platforms. The following are the three
supported
timestamp types: IEEEM, IEEEI or DECALPHA.
-isprint : only print printable characters(Data)
-o outfile : generate the output to outfile
-V : print version
inpfile : sqlidebug file
