Re: Using Onbar to do a system restore
Posted in 2000
Oliver,
You have to address both OnBar and ADSM.
For ADSM:
modify the ADSM system options on the client to either:
a) specify a 'virtualnodename prodbox10', (and, on the ADSM server,
authorize devbox11 to access prodbox10).
b) change the client name on devbox11 to prodbox10.
for OnBar:
a) copy the ixbar, $ONCONFIG, and $INFORMIXDIR/etc/oncfg.* files from
prodbox10 to devbox11.
b) make sure the chunk names/sizes are available
c) DO NOT START THE INSTANCE -- you want to do a cold restore, not a warm
one.
d) do a physical restore and then a logical restore (you don't want to
salvage the log files, and OnBar will salvage if you just specify
"OnBar -r -w")
I think that covers it. Been a few months since I've had to do it, can't
find my notes, and I ALWAYS miss something.
HTH,
Doug
