IDS performance

Hello, I'm using IDS in two versions : 10.00.FC5 and 11.5, and i'm quite OK with that. Unfortunately, I face some performance problems, but I don't know if I'm facing limits of IDS or if I could get some more with some changes. So, I'm looking for some write performance on IDS 10 or 11.5, but I cannot find any on the web. Could you give me some links, or some performance statistics ? IDS runs on Solaris 10, with a disk bay (fiber channel), and we use fragmentation. Thanks in advance. Fabrice PS : If you need any information, feel free to ask.
Fabrice I am uure that is not a IDS limits... We need more information to help you. There are not published IO stats for IDS in general and they wouldn't help
you much as they would be different for different environments. Post some
information and we'll try to help identify the problem. If the open
community can't help you then I'll suggest contracting with us (Oninit) or
one of the other excellent Informix-centric consulting groups out there
(Oninit, Automated DataTools, Xtivia, Kazar, One-Point Solutions, Ardenta,
and others) who can get into your systems and poke around to determine what
the problem is.
Anyway, let's try to help from outside first. Please post the following:
- Exact IDS versions.
- Exact Platform information.
- Why you think that there is a problem and what you think the symptoms
are.
- Disk Array configuration (#spindles, RAID level, type of array (SAN,
NAS, JBOD, ...))
- Type of chunks (RAW device, COOKED device, COOKED files)
- Number and speed/type of IO channels
- Output from the following onstat commands for both servers:
- onstat -d
- onstat -D
- onstat -c
- onstat -P
- onstat -p
- onstat -g glo
- onstat -g iof
- onstat -g iov
- onstat -g rea
- onstat -g buf

Another thing that you might want to look at is that Solaris 10, by default,
only allows IDS to use up to 25% of your total system memory. If this is what
you are running into, you will need to go in and set up a project for Informix
that will allow it to use more of your memory and the restart your instance.
