Informix Growth Edition question

Am comparing Growth and Ultimate editions and I don't understand what "Online table schema changes" means - I am using the page below as my information source. I used Google to see if I could find a reference to what this means without luck. I have also tried searching the IBM website and this is the only document with that phrase in... If anyone knows what it means that would be great. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/techarticle/dm-0801doe/
Hello. Online table schema means you´ll can´t run index creations (or drops) in online mode. It´s only allowed in greater license types. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v117/topic/com.ibm.perf.doc/ids_prf_381.htm It means you´ll must have an exclusive lock, instead, to create an attached/detached index, ok? Best regards.
