I died and nobody cares!

Does anyone know how to make the Informix server recognize when one of the clients dies unexpectedly? It seems the server is totally unaware when a client disconnects during a query/transaction (usually from a crash), and continues crunching until time's end. I know Oracle (phew) has this feature, but does anyone how to do it with Informix? I'm using NT 7.2. Thanks in advance, Itamar Haber M.N.S. Ltd. itamar@mnsltd.com
Try "k=1" or "k=0" in sqlhosts. The letter k identifies keep-alive entries in the options field, as follows: k=0 disable the keep-alive feature k=1 enable the keep-alive feature "The sqlhosts File or Registry. 4-48 Administrator's Guide for Informix Dynamic Server" Eugene In article <7lsv56$dv4$1@news2.inter.net.il>, "Itamar Haber" <itamar@mnsltd.com> wrote: > Does anyone know how to make the Informix server recognize when one of the > clients dies unexpectedly? I tried the following: 1. On the NT server I ran REGEDIT 2. I opened the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Informix\\SQLHOSTS\\ol_dev 3. I changed the OPTIONS value to: "k=1" 4. Restarted the server. Still, the server doesn't clear the connection when a client dies without closing the connection. What am I doing wrong? Which way you are using to know, that client connection has died ? And remember, that connection will not be killed immediately - wait about 30 seconds. -- With best regards, Yuri Dovgart, SAP R/3, Informix consultant, "Telecominvest" company. Nothing as usual under NT ;-) It only means Informix cannot recognize Informix lost sessions in your current NT configuration. Try k=0. In this case NT must close the sessions and you can gift the problem your NT administrator ;) Before changing the parameter you have to be sure in closing non-Informix connection on your NT when a client dies.
